Default Screeeeeeeeeccch!!!!

I installed Lyndall brake pads (front and back) on my bike a few weeks ago, . They work great for stopping and the brake dust is less, tho not as much as I was hoping for.

The problem I am having is, I can't seem to get the rear ones to stop screeching. I tried the brake spray and it worked for a few days but eventually the screech came back. They only screech when I lightly apply the brakes, if I get on them heavy they are fine.

What are some good tips to get rid of this noise?

I went through alll that also. I tried spray, grease, and filing the edge of the pad. Lyndall sent me three sets of pads and it was always the same. I finally got a guy at Lyndall that sent me a bottle of"glue" and it stopped all noise. This stuff is tan in color and has the consistency of paste. You paint it on the rear of the pad and install them. It will set up and kind of glue the pads to the caliper pistons so they can't get out of alignment and squeak. I would call Lyndall and request some. Hope this helps!

Oh..I forgot to mention...as for your signature we will require proof of ALL mods

I'm having the same probs with my front brakes, Fatboy. I just put Lyndalls on too and the front screeches and makes noises it shouldn't be making. Over 500 miles on 'em and the spokes, rims and white walls are still caking brown (never had that problem with stock pads), I'm not really seeing the claim for making less dust.

Thanks for the tips, harleyheaven.

Thanks, HarleyHeaven I will have to look into that paste. Is there any concern about "gluing" the pistons to the brake pad? I would think it would make it a bit difficult to remove the pads for things like tire changes and such.

Total disappointment as far as I am concerned about the dust. I was hoping they would be at least somewhat of an improvement over the stock pads...but about the same hassle with keeping the tires and rims clean.

As for the "other" mods....here is the best I can do for one of them. The hood ornament you will have to take my word on...sort of like a Cam mod, it's in there, you just cant see it, but you can hear its affects once you start the motor.

I agree, what that noise is, is it is actually vibrating on the back of your pads against the caliper. Get the goo and put it on the back of your pads and it will stop the vibration noise. It is such a fast and hard vibration it comes out in sound as a screeeech.

I have heard that the floating rotors dont squeek like that but I dont have them and its hear say and although my front one sqeeks a bit on slow rolling stops with light braking I like the looks and stopping power of what I have so no upgrade in store.

It would make sense that the goo would help with vibration dampening.

as mentioned above, the brake squeal is nothing more then the vibration between the pad and usually the caliper piston. i used crc brake quiet for yrs on cager brakes.. it does a good job and can be picked up in just about any automotive store.. make sure you shake it up good, remove the pads and look for a shiney circle or impression from where the piston is rubbing the pad. apply a nice coat on the pad and let it sit for a while to gel up. reinstall the pad and the noise should be gone. they also make a spray brake quiet, but i never had much luck with that style. if you don't like the red color, or have too much on the pad, you can let it sit up longer then shoot the back with black paint.. it will get darker naturally with the heat of braking and when it gets brake dust on it.

It's not actually a glue. It sets up hard but they can be removed when needed. Glue was just the best word I could think of for a description?

I tried the Disc Brake Quiet in the above post but it didn't work either?
