I have a pair of the yurbuds ironman earbuds. check them out at www.yurbuds.com I got them because they won't come out of my ear while working out and they turned out to be great while riding as well.

There are some earbuds at WalMart made by JVC that have memory foam inserts that I have found work really well for keeping them in the ear and keeping out ambient noise. Also for $20 they really cant be beat. Also it has the mic button so it allows you to keep your mp3 player in your pocket and still allow you to change songs.

I use these with my 1/2 helmet. As long as you get the ear plug in far enough, the sound isolation is good. I really like the large buttons on the remote as they are easy to manipulate with gloves on. Unfortunately these headphones are not comfortable with a full helmet.

My pipes are all the tunes I need

But I do love my Sennhiser CX300 buds. I don't ride with them but they are a great bud. $20-30.

I use to use a brand called Koss bought at Meijers store for 18$, but any earbud with a soft compressible foam that can be placed inside the ear then expand will do the trick.

I splurged on the westone 1's and they are great. They don't come out of my ear, I can hear the music fine without being turned completely up. I wear with out a helmet too. With a helmet they would be even better I'm sure. As good as these are if I wanted to spend the extra money I'd get the 3's or the 2's. But the ones work well for me. I feel confident that I would be able to hear any siren because I can still hear my pipes and a little wind as well.

Etymotic makes the custom fits, but they are pricey.
I'm considering some Bluetooth speakers, then find or make a chromed enclosure to bolt to my windshield. I just use my J-Buds, for now, and they work well for under $50. BT headsets are also another option I have considered.

Skull candy works well "and does a nice job on wind noise".

You can not beat EtyMotics , they secure in , isolate noise and give you great sound. best out there. and they fit inside all my helmets just fine.
