Brake pads

Brake pads
Does the steelers carry more then one kind of brake shoes or just a "Harley" brand shoe? Is there one better then the other? Is there one better I can get someplace else? It's a stock brake set up. I would really like low to no brakes dust. Bike is just about all chromed. Thanks in advance.

The only advice I can offer is to be wary of the Lyndall claims. Maybe it's just mine breaking in on new rotors, but after 500 miles they're still leaving a dusting of brown all over my white walls and wheels far more than the original pad/rotor setup...and I don't like it!

Some dealers carry or special order aftermarket parts to my surprise.
Not sure there is anything better than Lyndalls out there as far as dust reduction. It took mine several hundred miles before they stopped completely covering my new WWs. With over 3,000 miles there is still some dust but nothing is ever going to be "dust free" and they are (finally) IMHO less dust producing than stock.

One Word LYNDALL's Z Plus pads..
Just ordered another set for the rear and there are about the same $$ as the HD stockers.
I put some on the front last summer and Very little dust on the rim. I'd say 75-90% less. They stop as good but I wouldn't say there a lot better. Suposed to last longer but I can't say so far with only 7k on the fronts..

Only negatives- from time to time i hear a brake squeek...
I would highly recommend Lyndall Z pads though....

I switched to Lyndall Z-Plus pads on both bike for 2 reasons.
1. I've read they are more gentle to polished rotors, and I have polished rotors on both bikes.
2. Less dust. My Street Glide pads are broken in thoroughly now, and they stop great with minimal dust.
Of course, as brake pads wear away, there is dust, but so far, they seem to generate less than the stockers. Not much more in price either.

I've got Lyndall gold+ on both of my bikes. Not impressed with them on either bike. For a pad company to claim no noise, no dust and improved braking, I sure hear a lot of squeaking as I slowly stop to wipe the dust off my rims.
