06 softail w/ignition off and the fuel pump fuse in(connected) it steadily pumps fuel into engine.has had to change oil twice have changed main n systems relays.ALL this started after installing a new battery.it is showing codes P1001 System Relay Coil Open/Low EFI ,,,,,and P1004 System Relay Contacts Closed EFI.
Trey disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes. I am a little unclear on exactly what is happening due to the way it is explained. Is the check engine light staying on all the time or just a few seconds after startup? From what I understand the bike is running?
Hogpro,no engine not running and key switch is in the off postion. When you put in fuel pump fuse it starts dump cyl.n c.c. so not sure this is my buddy's bike hope this help.
The contact within relay may have welded itself closed, causing the old battery to die, so now you have a new battery providing new power, did you replace the relay?

Ooohhh... maybe a good catch! Good one!
The fuel pump shouldn't work unless the ECM tells it to, right? That would mean that there would have to be a hot short to the fuel pump. I think that is the ONLY way the pump could come on. It would also have to be on the pump side of the relay (he says without looking at a wiring diagram).
You would have to be getting power to the relay from some other source. I can't say if the fuse is before or after the ECM. I would have to look at the correct wiring diagram to tell you how to diagnose where the power is coming from... sorry.
