Ok I officially found my favorite thread on this forum and I'm only on the 4th page. I'm really just posting now so I can find it again but I'll post a couple pics of my scooter. It's a work in progress, I'm literally working on my new front fender right now. I just got new levers yesterday and got the back fender on a couple weeks ago.
Straight pipes on her and she is loud but still not loud enough to where I can't hear the wife and kid lol
It takes time. Good looking Bones. What are you doing to the front fender?
I got the heritage springer front fender. I'm working on getting the paint off and welding the lamp holes shut. Man this stock Harley paint it tough stuff.
I can't believe that is has been 6 years with no posts to this thread. Well, I hope that my post resurrects it a bit as there is a lot of inspiration on the previous 106 pages!
A month ago I picked up a 2006 FLSTSCI that sat uncovered outside in the Virginia weather for 6 months, according to the owner. I think it was at least a year, and likely closer to two based off of what I found tearing into it. A few picks as I found it.
So it ran, I took it home, and started to play with it. First order of business was to get it to "my guy" and have him inspect it to tell me what needs to be repaired immediately to allow me to ride it this season as I think about what I actually want to do with it. Cleaned it up a bit and did a bit of wrenching to make sure that it can roll safely. It is currently with my guy getting new rims and Shinko tires on it, later this month he will be redoing the neck bearings and servicing the springer, with me looking over his shoulder of course.
Have a black cat's eye dash as well, will decide which one I will use at the end. Also had a problem finding the indicator lights for the dash, finally found a cross bones part (68545-08) and am currently in process of having a custom PCB clone made of the part, since it is no longer available and manufactured. After this season the plan is to strip this bike down to the frame, send it to powder coating, paint the tins, get rid of the apes for beach bars (although the apes are growing on me), and have Chris at Cycle Solutions build me a Zipper's 124 for it, and proceed to enjoy. Of course, now the wife wants me to build one for her, so I am on the prowl for a sportster to lower and throw a springer front end on for her...
