Called the shop where my buddy had his fatboy done. They recommended doing a 103 kit that they have done many times with proven results. Said I could expect between 100-110 hp & 110-120 trq. Plus they warranty all there work & parts. Cost is $2000.00 out the door. They did a very good job on my buddies bike so thinking of going that route. Does that seem pretty good???
PW, can you give a breakdown of the $2000.00 quote; meaning which cam and brand pistons are they installing? Since your bike now has only a stage 1, what tuner are they putting in? Any head work? Does the price include dyno tuning?
Don't ever put too much stock in that "buddy of mine said" ****. Call Jamie at fuelmoto and ask him. He's a certified Harley mechanic, and has been in his own business for years. He's very well respected around here and will tell you everything you need to know about the thickness of your cylinder walls doing a 107". Axtell makes a 106" kit, and so does S & S. If 107" leaves the walls too thin, so would the 106's. Get your information from "pros", not shade-tree mechanics.
My builder (also harley certified mechanic) said with those 106" kits there is only 1 bore over size so he reccomended not going that route.
My 2 pennies are for the price and reliability the 103" is hard to beat. And with lots of things you can do beyond doing the just the cams and pistons, you can do heads, injectors, throttle body and have a really solid reliable build.

I'm waiting for the Harley Tech to email me back with the parts they use. The $2000 includes the parts, labor & dyno tune. He did say I could expect 100 HP & 115 TQ with the 103". I got the #'s mixed with my buddies in my original post. I still have to get a Power Commander.

That's a good price and they're probably using SE parts which is a good thing. When you find out which cam they're putting in, just make sure it's going to give you the power where you want it in the rpm range where you ride. Hard to believe though you can get to those HP and TQ numbers without headwork, at least decking to get to the compression ratio that the cam needs.
we`ve done 100`s of 107" kits`s,just selling kits outright, boring cylinder & doing the complete install.never had any problems.we use HD cylinders & wiseco piston kits (BTW our 107" are 1095.00 installed, parts & labor)
My biggest concern at the moment is that if I go with the 103" from the Harley Shop they will warranty there parts & work. They said they have no problem installing the FM 107 BB Kit & dyno tuning it but can not guarantee any thing or warranty the work. I still have a month before I make up my mind.

The warranty is a huge plus, IMO stick with the screaming eagle parts. I used SE cylinders and pistons and couldn't be happier although I did use an Andrews cam. SE makes a wide selection of cams; pick one to give you the power where you want it for the type of riding you do.
im confused.
how much does it usually costs going just stage 1: full exhuast, AC, tuner, and getting it dynoed?
i thought that it was probably like $2k to get a stage 1, but you can get a BB kit with everything for $1k-$2k?
Are these typical prices?
Am i missing something?
I'm not sure what it cost for a Stage 1. My bike came with it already when I purchased it. From what I understand, you need exhaust, AC & some sort of tunner like a power commander before you can do a 103 or 107 kit. The BB Kit does not include those parts.
Talked to the tech today. He recommended the SE 211 cams with High Compression Pistons. He also recommended compression releases & a little heavier clutch spring. All & all with parts, labor & dyno tuning comes out to $2300. They also warranty the parts & work. What do you fellas think???
