Went and took my drivers test and passed! I was nervous as hell! Lol
I know one thing, that driving test is no joke on a cruiser like my softail custom. I am 42 years old and have rode bikes since I was 16. I stopped riding for about 17 year until a month or so ago. The DMV lady said 90% come in on a sport bike or scooter of some sort.
I was shocked at how hard and nervous I was taking the driving test....mainly the figure 8 then doing the circle twice without going outside the outter white line. If a driver doesn't know how to operate in the friction zone and use their back brake, they are screwed! Lol
Just thought I would share with the world that I am now legal in Cali.

Congrats..........I took off 20+ from riding, before I started again I took a motorcycle safety class, man was it a good thing. Learned a bunch of stuff plus at the end of the class I just went to the DMV showed them the card I received for taking the class and they gave me my motorcycle endorsement....no test. Can't say enough about the class.

Yea, I am still going to take the course by the end of the year. I just wanted to go ahead and get my endorsement now because I thought I could pass it. I have also been reading "Proficient Motorcycling", which is a great book!
its not an easy test, and with the added pressure of not touching your feet, it makes you want to put them down even more!
That's very true, its like a kid being told you can't do something. Lol makes you want to do it more. The test is hard enough (although certainly passable) but having everyone watch you makes it worse.
I am not looking forward to this test in the slightest. I have my permit and waiting to finish building my softail to go take the test. I'll probably hold out to get comfortable with my bike first. maybe even practice figure 8's in a an empty parking lot or something. Is the figure 8 the worst part of the test?

I see your in Ohio. There is no figure 8 in test here. I thought worst part was the cone weave.

I was in the same position of having taken 20 + years off from riding and then took the class at the local community college. However, I can't say much about the class other than it was great not having to take the driving portion of the test at the DMV.
