Dont consider the 5th gear whine as a fault. It is a straight cut gear as is first which makes them the two strongest gears. Thus they can take some abuse! They eliminated the straight cut 5th gear because of customer whine!

That top-end noise is not good. Most likely pre-ignition due to too low octane fuel. Use 93 octane and see if goes away. That needs attention right away.
