There's a Procharged Harley running around my area too. With double or triple the stock horsepower, and power you can plant without needing to feather the throttle to avoid wheelstanding (because of the low center of gravity), these aren't anything to take lightly.

Excactly, torque gets mass moving..

Take the average 600cc crotch rocket roughly 120HP and 50 pounds of torque. Problem is they don't have that 120HP until 13000 RPM and it takes torque and slipping clutch to get there..

Off the line, if you know what you are doing, it's pretty easy to smoke a crotch rocket up to the speed limit, after that, he will pass you like an angry hornet.

Dont mess with them on the freeway, but around town in 0-60MPH off the line races, they are easy to own with a well built Harley..

I wouldn't try to race one at a rolling 25mph though, might be trouble, but then again my bike isn't supercharged..

The point is, Torque gets the job done, it's the seat of the pants pull that gets our heavy machines moving, big advantage off the line, not so much once the weight gets in motion and Horsepower can take over..

My bike has 100TQ, and I have smoked more crotch rockets than I can count around town where we can't get to high speed, If I tried that on an open road, I would get smoked after 60MPH no doubt..

Were you the only one that knew it was a race ? Off the line Id say a 600 should easily win with an experienced rider.

Depends on how experienced the rider is. A typical 600 sport bike has a very peaky power band, and doesn't even reach its torque peak until 11,000 rpm. Sure, one can learn to slip the clutch to hold the rpms at 11,000 rpm or above during a launch, but it takes a lot of dedicated practice. I drag raced a lot (at the dragstrip), so it was something I had to learn to be competitive. Probably not something most street riders know how to do.

A 600 cc 110 hp sportbike only has about 40 horsepower at 6000 rpm, so you need to be really good at keeping it in the power band.

in a way you are right torque does get our bikes moving....but, thats where the beauty of the procharger comes in to place...boost increases with rpm..so when your torque is about to flatten out in higher rpms the horsepower just keeps increasing. My torque actually keeps increasing to redline surprisingly.

Unlike most harleys that have all of this torque off the line and tend to be dead in upper rpms, my bike is a straight up beast at about 2500 rpms up to 6500 rpms...doesn't stop pulling
