Train owner here, but I LOVE CB's! The only thing I'd change would be the rear fender over to a Heartland Bobber kit. An expensive mod, but worth it.

My brother has one and it is a great bike his is an 2009 and of course it is a softtail so you have endless upgrade oppertunities. I would switch the fenders first and then go with taller apes. But that is just my opinion.

http://www.gabrielseye.com/portfolio/vehicles/ Is the 13th thumbnail down. It was taken by a professional photographer at a local hooters.
ill try to find a few others. Ill put it on the market to get a feeler. I just bought a Street glide. Want to change her to a bobber but it looks too good to mess up.

And lose the hokey skull on the oil tank.

Agree about the rake it looks terrible. Disagree about the heritage fender, doesn't fit the rest of the bike.

Am I the only peon that likes the stock rear fender? I like the heartland and RSD fenders too, but the stock looks good to me. It seems nobody else likes it.

I like the rear fender and the tractor seat. Saw it at the dealership when it first came out.... fell in love with the uniqueness, and yes to this day I still get compliments. Changed mine up with a lowered rear and added 16in apes. Brakes would be the only thing I would improve on, but just get used to giving more time to slow down.

I like the stock fender, so that makes at least 2 people lol. Can't tell you what I like about it but I've always liked it on softail standard and custom, and love it on other bikes like nightrain etc.
I like the heartland and heritage fenders, if I changed I'd probably go for heritage fenders but there's some kind of pleasure I get from keeping my vehicles generally stock with a few little things to personalize it

Keeping them stock!? It's crazy I tell you!

All joking aside. I fell in love with the bones when I saw one at the dealer in 08. It was lust at first sight. I had dreamed of owning one since that day. But even then the gears were moving. I didn't like the bars, the seat, the brakes...

My bones is the bike I have dreamed of since I started riding. I thought of the bones before ***** G. and just didn't know it.

Seriously though, think about it. It's a 96 with a 6 speed Springer.

Again to the OP, I thought about this riding home. The Springer doesn't act quite as fast as a hydro front end and doesn't like rough roads, or going off road. I've dealt with both no issues, so nothing to fear, just a thought. I take rough turns a little more slowly than I would with a hydro.

Also, during hard braking, the frontend can flex a little. Nothing bad, but feels weird at first. Don't question it, just get her and ride her. Join our ranks!

And it may not look like it but I have over $4,000 in aftermarket parts. It is very expensive and I love every minute!

I've loved every one of my almost 27,000 miles. The sprung seat was too tall for me...I'm 6'4" so I switched to a Mustang.
I also like the stock rear fender...although a short one would be cool too...but the stock keeps the rain and mud off my back unlike a shorty.
I don't even want to think how much I have into it now...and of course I'm not done, probably never will be, but I will never sell this bike.
