I'm just not a fan of the Bobtail fender on ANY bike, but esPECIALLY the Bones. To me, the bike BEGS for the Heartland Bobber kit. VASTLY improves the look of it.
Personally, I think the Bones and Night Train (yeah, I'm biased) are the 2 coolest bikes Harley has ever produced.
Am I the only peon that likes the stock rear fender? I like the heartland and RSD fenders too, but the stock looks good to me. It seems nobody else likes it.
No I love the stock fender too. Totally looks great IMO.
I am a fan of the snub nosed look! I HATE raked out bikes !
With you there. I don't mind Harley such as the Night Train or the Wide Glide...and even the Rocker. I would be happy riding any of those scoots. But I really don't care for bikes with the front all stretched out. Just makes them look dainty. One person described the Bones front end as looking like it ran into a wall (which is true of all FL springers because they all use the same front end) and honestly I love that! I love that it looks all fat and stout and shaped like a battering ram in the front with that fat wheel.
The rear fender on the other hand is something that oddly enough became more of an issue the longer I owned the bike. I don't think that my issue is with the fender itself. I like it on the Train and the Softail Custom. I just had an issue with it on the Bones. It just didn't feel right with the rest of the bike. I looked to me like the back end of the bike was from one era while the front was from another. I originally intended to go with a Shadetree fender but that changed when my wife started riding with me after she swore she never would. It was for that reason that I changed my Bones up from a bobber style ride to a more full on classic Springer. This was it is more of two up touring bike and dressing it all up for that looks much better now. At least I think so...

I feel the same way. I really like the rear bobtail fender on night train, custom, & the fx, and I really liked on the xbones when I first got it. But as time went by, I felt it would look better with a full fender (like the springer heritage, or fatboy).
What I really like about the 200mm bobtail fender though is how there's a crease that creates an extra "lip" (lack of better term). If HD, or someone could create a full fender with that design element - I would pick that up in a heartbeat!
I will never own anything BUT a springer. There are no other bikes but springers if you ask me. This bike is so comfortable to ride. So many possibilities to customize it to your liking. Mines an 09 and it's been bullet-proof.
Turns heads everywhere.

Once I installed the narrow beach bars on my Bones, it fit like a glove and became what I wanted when I first saw it in the HD showroom.
I also like the Bobtail rear fender. A larger front fender would have been perfect, not the fatboy fender though, that's too industrial looking for the rebel look of the Bones.
I have some good memories of me and my Bones; discovering undiscovered country, conversations with strangers, and most of all just letting loose.

I love my bones. The thing to me that is probably the worst is the factory seat. I ordered the other tractor seat and love it. Just didnt really feel good on the over padded factory seat. I must admit though, most all other harleys just look the same to me anymore. When we go on a big ride, everyone is always approaching me about my bike, cause its different then the pile of RK and Street Glides. Its all personal preference, but I like the look and feel of it.
