One thing for sure, overfilling is not a problem. These tanks have a vent that is below the cap seal. Any excess gas is suppose to go that way and under the bike. I've seen this happen in hot weather. No gas is suppose to get past the seal. I also don't believe these caps are vented. Don't need to be. That's what the vent is for.

That's why I stated some are and some are not vented..

If U relpaced Urs with a new one just like the old one and its the wrong one.. then, maybe why Ur still leaking...

Ur parts dept should have known which one Ur bike needs...

Unless U told them what U wanted...
