Counter clockwise to remove it..... It's just regular threads

It should be hand tight...... get a good hold and turn....

Or use a strap wrench...

Listen to HS03 - use no more than a strap wrench. Anything metal will gall it.

Your hands should be enough to remove it. Turn it anti-clockwise. You won't need the special tool to remove the wheel. The part into which the special tool fits will stay with the fender as you take it off.

You will also need to put two or three cable ties on each of the two fork legs in order to keep the two parts of the springer fork together when you remove the axle.

I replaced the wheels on my Springer Classic a couple of weeks ago, so it's fresh in my mind.

Sounds like you're in desperate need of a genuine workshop manual

You going with the fat spokes? I put them on my Springer a couple of weeks ago. I think I need to balance the front wheel, but they look awesome!
