i want to replace my original wheels on my springer classic but don't know how to remove my axle cap . do i turn it clockwise or anti clockwise ?
i got me the special tool but can't move it either way .
this is the cover i am talking about
Your hands should be enough to remove it. Turn it anti-clockwise. You won't need the special tool to remove the wheel. The part into which the special tool fits will stay with the fender as you take it off.
You will also need to put two or three cable ties on each of the two fork legs in order to keep the two parts of the springer fork together when you remove the axle.
I replaced the wheels on my Springer Classic a couple of weeks ago, so it's fresh in my mind.
