I run Progressives 422's in the rear, and just a few months ago put progressives springs in the front end. Made a HUGE difference from the worn out OE! Big difference even if the OE was new. HUGE! I love the way it handles. Pot holes,,corners, all of it...
IMHO, forget the 422's. They don't compare in any way, shape or form to the shotguns. I dropped the progressive gas monotubes up front and I dropped it an inch and with the SS's its like a new bike and I can change it anytime I want with the flip of a switch.
I'm running the setup you're asking about. 02 Fatboy with 422's lowered 1 inch. MonoTubes up front (Stock Height) but without the adjusting spacers that come with the MonoTubes. Leaving out the spacers was recommended by Progressive. The MonoTubes are not magic, but I'm happy with them and don't regret spending the money.
I previously tried the Progressive drop-in springs but couldn't get them dialed-in regardless of spacer length and fluid weight.
A second benefit of the MonoTubes is that you'll never have to service your forks again.
