Default front and rear drop? Recommendations...

I own an 07 Night Train. I just purchased the Progressive front "drop-in" kit and the rear bolt kit with bushings.

I wanted to know what is a good drop for both front and back. I've noticed that stock, the bike sits a little higher in the front. So, I was thinking of dropping the front 1.5" and 1" out back. The rear is adjustable so I can slam it or bring it back up to 1" when riding 2-up. What do you guys think?

Also, can our stock shocks be adjusted for stiffness, for example, if I am going to have a heavier load on it?

I have my 09 NT lowered 2" in the back and I am lowering it 1" in the front when it gets put back together after they powdercoat the front lower fork legs. The stock shocks are adjustable you need to get a spanner wrench from HD to turn the adjuster after you loosen the lock nut.

So you don't think this looks good, or right? I think any bike that is lower in the rear than the front looks better. To each his own

I bought the Progressive front drop-ins as well. I believe I bought the 2" drop kit, so the PVC was 4.5" already. I just dropped them in. I did the rear 1.5-2" and it handles like a dream.

Trains dont sit like Rockers.

This is my train pre front end droppage. It was cool but?

And after:

2" isnt a really big deal. If you look at the 09' model section on the HD site they have either photoshopped or installed a set of -4" fork tubes on the bike they showcase.

One of my winter mods will be a set -2 under fork tubes. Combined with the Progressive springs and Race Tech gold emulators.

Trains like a lower front end. The lowah...The Bettah!!

Hey Chaz,

What bars are those and what size headlight is that(Lenght and width)? Sweet bike! What did you use to lower your fronts? I put the 2" progressives in and mine don't seem as low as yours.........

thanks!

Interesting..... I dropped mine 1.5 in the back at first and the handling sucked. I wonder what the difference was.

Those are Harley street slammer bars. I sold them a few weeks ago to a fellow member.

That headlight is a 6X9 billet harley one. That thing was like $300.00 I removed it because it has some weird marks along the seam. Its a project headlight for Powdercoating or something over the winter.

I used the 2" progressive kit as well. Me and a buddy dicked with it for what seemed like hours trying to figure how to get it as low as possible.

We ended up just following the danged directions and using 11 OZ of heavy fork oil.

That's it, I used 12.5oz of fork oil. Meh, I don't really want to tear it down again, so it'll just have to stay that way. hehe
