I did this kit for my 07 Standard, I posted some of this in the standard thread, should help ya out.

"Just got my Progressive Lowering kit in yesterday and tackled it at the shop last night. After rolling around the best way to get it in the air to get underneath it comfortably and work we came up with this. Worked like a champ. I'm 6'3", so it was bad *** to be able to get it up in the air high enough to walk under it. 2 4X4's, a forklift and some ratchet straps."

I'm going to take some pics of it at its new height tonight and show yall a good before and after. Looking back, this kit was really easy to install. I spent most of my time trying to come up with a way to compress the shock. After many attempts at different techniques I got a spring compression kit from the auto parts store. Squeezed it from both sides, the bottom hooking around the bottom of the cylinder, and the top hooking to a plate we made out of 1/2" AL that slid over the spindle far enough to make contact. I have my pre-load set to what the instructions called "lightest". I need to adjust it out to make the ride a little stiffer. It feels like stock now, just want to tighten it up a bit to prevent some bottoming out. I have a progressive 2" front drop planned for next week. I took the nut out to with in 3/8" from the end of the rod, this netted me just about 2", maybe a hair under. I love the way it feels, cant wait to get the front matching.

Question : When adjusting the pre-load for a stiffer ride, am I capturing the cylinder with the spanner, loosening the lock nut, and then running the next nut in towards the cylinder? As said above, I just bottomed it all out to the "lightest" to have a good starting point, but think that it needs to be tightened up a tad.

oh yea, lifting your baby 6 feet up in the air? ****ing nerve racking. I went over those ratchet straps 4 times, then once more before I put her in the air.

I would say I have about the same mech ability and it was a lot easier than I had thought. If you don't have a press and end up getting a coil spring compressor like I had mentioned in my previous post, go REALLY slow when compressing them. I put the bottom eyelet in a rag in a vise with the shock sticking straight up. The guy at the store will tell you to use an impact to turn the nuts and compress your shock. Slap him and use two ratchets, one on each side with a helper matching your turns so you keep it straight. I would also advise throwing a strap around the outside of the clamps that would in turn circle the cylinder just in case one of those things decides to dance off the side and let go. The strap will create some interference before they can get to you. After getting the guts out, it was simply undo this, undo that, screw on this, screw on that, loc tite, loc tite, and back under the bike. I'm really happy I did it all myself, now I know exactly whats going on under there, where all the height adjustment is etc.

Thanks man, that fronts getting dropped within the week. Im going to grab the progressive drop ins. haha, never thought I'd have my baby on a damned forklift. The bitch of it is, we were standin around kickin back a few tryin to figure out how in the funk we were gona get under it, then I realized I was leaning against a forklift. It worked out really well, I dont think the stealer can get one that high. Ill wear that crown with pride. Thanks for the kind words on my scoot, Ive got my eye on a front fender like yours, may even turn to the dark side when its time to spray. Had they dropped the standard a year earlier I would be on a train. Ive seen a lot of your posts and input, its good ****, keep it up chaz you gotta a bad *** ride.

Twist....The image of your Scoot up on that lift will live in my mind for quite some time.

Cant wait to see the front end join the *** in getting under that Limbo Pole!!

Funny you say as had I not bought a Train the standard was on my short list. Just a straight foward Harley canvas ready to be tweaked and fiddled with.

Thanks for the comps Mang!!
