I want to put RSD Vintage bars on my 2008 Crossbones and noticed that RSD says that the bars are not for use with the Crossbones OEM risers. As it turns out the risers are too big and will not fit within the 7" crossbar. However the sales rep did say that RSD risers would fit. He went on to say that I may need new riser studs that convert fine thread (1/2x20) to course thread (1/2x13).
Here is the part the rep referenced:
- Options: Fine Thread 1/2-20 or Dual Thread 1/2-20 x 1/2-13(shown)
- Length: 2.5 inches
- Fits: Fine - 1/2-20 thread pitch Risers for springers; Dual - 1/2-13 thread pitch Risers for springers
- Finish: Steel or Black
The rep wasn't sure if the OEM studs had fine thread, but he says after-market springers do. I could always tear mine down and look for myself, but I thought I might save myself the aggravation by seeing if anyone here is running these bars and whether new riser studs were required.
I'm also wondering if these bolts will work. The vintage bars will fit your bike with the RSD risers. But everyone recommends the vtwin-studs, but they're not in stock anywhere. And haven't been for a long while.
So if anyone's using the NYCC-studs shown, please let us now....
