Default Codes for deuce, voltage reg surge fried components

I got a call from a friend that owns a 2000 model Deuce. His bike died on the Interstate, with the speedometer stuck on 48mph. I rode my 02 Heritage to go meet him, and first thing I did was remove his speed sensor and clean the shaving from it, unhook the battery to reset, the hooked it back up. Nothing changed. Bike would not fire, and speedo stayed stuck. I went get the truck and trailer, took his bike to my shop. I replaced the voltage regulator, the TSSM, the 30amp breaker, removed all the tins, and inspected the entire wire harness inside and out. No chaffed wires at all. Still no fire. The new TSSM fixed the speedometer problem, but still no fire. I replaced the Ignition coil, plug wires, and plugs. Still no fire. The battery has 12.96 volts, and the coil plug in has the same voltage on the middle pin, and nothing on the two outside pins of the plug. I put the ECM and Speed sensor from the Heritage onto the deuce, still no fire. I checked the run/stop switch, all good. The LED taillight he was running was toast, I installed the stock one, it worked, the two front blinkers and one of the rear blinkers were burnt, I replaced the bulbs, they work now, but still no fire at the coil outputs. The only components that I haven't replaced are the Crank position sensor, cam sensor, and bank angle sensor.
I don't know how to access the codes on this bike, and the only thing that I can tell that caused this is the Voltage regulate must have surged and welded the breaker in the closed position, and fried every electrical component that I have checked.
Has anyone else ever dealt with such catastrophic electrical destruction? A tech at my local dealership told me that he has seen this before, and a bike that happened to, exploded the battery, and nearly burned to the ground. He said that resistance such as the type caused by installing LED components, are what caused the Regulator to surge like that. How can I access DTC(Diagnostic Trouble Codes) on this bike?

You are going to be limited in the codes available on that bike. 2000-2002 bikes have limited codes available. To check them, you need to make a jumper wire for the diagnostic port under the seat. Connect the 2 top pins and then you can read the codes from the engine flashes. There is a sticky on this forum that will help you.
Wish I could help more, sounds like a mess...
