Yes....took about 2 hours from start to finish....went on about a 200 mile day ride today and got right around 47.5 mpg.....most of that was doing 70-75......

Does the chain tensioner get compromised by the longer chain?
Any pic's with the case open?
Old thread. I know.
So, this is on an 03 Heritage.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has done this conversion. I can find the sprocket all day long.
It's the longer primary chain that is the problem. I just want the slight rpm reduction at freeway
speeds. If my math is right, 75 mph @ same rpm when I'm doing 70 now.
If not, I might do the 34T pulley on the trans. I'll have to look at the axle placement & make sure
I have room to adj.
Bike's going in the shop next week. Clutch issues is one thing. So, since that will be apart.
It had that easy pull clutch installed before I got it. That weaker diaphragm spring is causing
problems.
Doing cam chain tensioners too. And cams. 203's, 204's, I dunno. Andrews comparable ?
I think they're all pretty close. I think the 204's would be my 1st choice (IF available)
Just something for just a little more lwr end oomph.)
All this perf stuff is hard to get now in the great state of kalif.
He does want me to do the updated hyd set up.
And, I have the SERT tuner. Let him play with that. Hope it cools it off too. On an 85 deg
day that oil temp is 250.
Thank you

I never messed with the gearing on my softails, so I can't help you there....
But I have used a couple cams in an 88"-95" twin cam..
I put a Big Bore kit in my '03, within 6 months of buying it new in 2003. The big bore kit came with SE203 cams.... bike ran great on the HD download, and I later had DynoJet tweak that tune for me, and it ran even better... much better....
When I did the cam tensioners on that '03, I used Andrews 26 conversion cams... they run as well as the SE203s.. pretty close, maybe a tad better. I had called Andrews at the time and they said use A26 cams on an 88" engine with higher compression or a big bore kit... They said for an otherwise OEM 88", the Andrews 21 was a good bolt-in cam...
I have a friend with an '02 88" and the A21 cams.... His bike runs real well... his bike is the reason I looked at the Andrews cams to begin with...
