The needle on my 2001 softail bounces at low speed. i believe this is driven electronicaly. is there a sending unit and where is it on the bike
If it's like my 2001 Deuce the unit is on the right rear of the transmission. It's easily replaced (once you take off the plastic fender guard thing to get to the electrical plug). I had no speedo, odometer wasn't working, and bike would stall out coming up to stop lights (have EFI). Replaced it and it purrs now.
You may also be able to get away with just pulling it out of the trans and wiping off the metal shavings and reinstalling. Cheaper to try that first.
