Sweet Bike, Liberator. I love that black and chrome look. Simple elegance.

Thanks man. I guess I'm old enough that I'm not a blacked out bike kinda guy so I still really dig the chrome.

It never ends i am kind of disappointed now that i have done just about every thing i can to my bike at least to my likings. its very hard for me to add things at this point sure there are still things i can do but would they make that much difference ? I could diamond cut the jugs add a 18 inch wheel to the back things like that . I should be happy. Last mod was an expensive hand made fender bib. Thing is i never stop looking. I would get another bike but have no where to keep it. I really like the new sportster 72 model and would love to have one to run around town. I like this bike a lot. thing is with the money i put into my bike i could have bought another bike no problem. Its an addiction and a lot of us have it here on the forum.

Thats what happened to my Springer Low Rider. I built a super unique bike with virtually nothing like it on the entire forum..... or anywhere else for that matter. I finally reached the point that there was nothing left that I wanted to do to the motorcycle. It was exactly how I wanted it to be. I had no choice but to sell it, buy a Fat Boy and start all over again. Bikes have never been about transportation for me. They are my passion.

Default Thanks for the Memories

My own idea was to spend the first 15,000 miles perfecting my new Deuce as a stage one stocker. With real good maintenance I figured I could let the major bike systems carry me along pretty well while I looked for overall problems that could be "sorted out." My philosophy was to keep grinding away at any area that griped me and wait to do "fun stuff" until I have a perfect command of it as a stocker.

I have probably $5,000 worth of experiments (many which failed) specialty tools, service books and whatnot---and not a whole lot that looks any different from stock except for the new forks and shield.

Better forks (rebuilt, modified valves, set sag), brakes, lights, stage one, seat(s), various extended pegs (even tried floorboards), bars (4), shields (2), exhausts (4), horn, tires, take longer and longer rides looking for problem areas until there was nothing about the bike that pissed me off. Some things obviously wound up in boxes marked "did not work."

OK now it is closing in on 20k and I HAVE to get into the timing chest to inspect the chain tensioners. So time for a new 204SE cam! Why not as I will be in there anyway. That should be real fun as it will go beyond stock-finally.

Then at 30K it will be time to dump the heads and jugs and go gear drive and shoot for 90hp/100tq, along with a beefier clutch setup. I have built motors before and that should be real fun too. Plus by then I should be bored as heck with the 204SE.

So yes, I am slowly spending money. Not as much as some of you wild guys. And I really feel it helps to have a plan so things progress at the same time as you ride it. Both are important.

So doing it this way every step of this sickness has been a completely satisfying journey. I can "feel" and measure actual improvements in how good this bike makes me (an average rider at best) look. I take time and savor each change

Thank you Harley for giving me the richest deepest addiction I have room for in my life (and in my garage)... And thank you all for allowing me to share my heartfelt comments.

This forum lets me do a lot of my homework before I touch the first tool. You guys are like I got a new "brain" somewhere and my mistakes are less and less serious. THANK YOU.

Just got home from picking up my brake line from the dealer (now to install the bars) I almost pulled the trigger on the heavy breather but decided to do it when I do the motor mods this winter. New cams, pushrods, PCV and heavy breather with a dyno tune. Maybe new heads, we will see won't we?

Well, the bars are on and look and feel great. Had to damage the grips getting the controls off. Oops. Golly, guess I need new grips tomorrow. Wanted to take the bike to work in the a.m. but I don't have DOT 4 fluid, so it'll get filled after work and my service calls. Dealer still don't have the docking hardware for the windshield. Found yet some more goodies I want. I do need to cool it a little. The wife is seeing how much I'm spending on the bike and the boat, she wants me to remodel the friggin house.
Aren't you guys suppose to talk me off the ledge????? You're all a bunch of enablers. Thank you for that.

Ya know, I've been an Internet guy for many, many years now I have to say that THIS is THE best example of what it can be. I don't care what your hobby is but damn if there's not some guy in Denmark or freakin' Po-Dunk nowhere who's had the same exact problem and can now help you, lol!
