A lot of goldwing riders are lucky to get 5k on a $250 tire...that's what started all this. If I rode a goldwing it would have a car tire on the back.

I put a 200/55/17 Me 880 on my softail custom and in 2k miles the center 2 inches are showing a lot of wear and I ride a lot of curves as well as highway and trying to be easy on the tire. At the rate it is going there will be threads showing in the middle at 5k and lots of tread on the sides. Maybe a car tire will be better.

WOW I didn't mean to start a hate it love thread !! I was just wondering how feasable it was. There is always pro and con to everything. Even back in the day 70's , 80, I don't remember seing anyone doing that But there was this one guy!!

I don't think this a "always a pro and con to everything" conversation. I can't think of ONE good reason to consider a car tire on the back of a motorcycle.

I get 15,000 out of my tires now.

You didn't. This comes up over and over. The guys who do it swear by it and those who don't always tell us why. If that guy is only getting 15K out of his car tire, he's in the minority. The hard core car tire guys typically get over double that. Its a lot more common than one would think. Most people just don't notice. Pop on one of the many threads and you'll see the endless debates.
