saw some tires on other threads that looked pretty much like a bike tire but I am not really sold on the idea , plus I think it could void some claims on my ESP and not sure what my ins co would do if something happened , for now I think I will keep my car and motorcycle seperate , I have enough trouble keeping cars away from my scoot
I think this is very interesting. I actually looked for a car tire that would be the same size as my bike's tire. I couldn't fine one. I just put a new tire on a couple thousand miles ago and it still looks almost new. If the mileage on it is not good, I may seriously look at a car tire. But again, I couldn'f find a match so I guess it is a mute point.
CONVINCED?? No it can't corner for crappolla......I wouldn't do it......not possible..... this guy is only going mayyyybe 10 mph at best.....and...................No harley will corner this hard or at this speed..... nough said..... Oh....one more thing.....No offense Benway but.....your nice looking scoot cannot bank more than 15 degrees at best before you grind your shark tails down to the nub....
I am not a fan of the square look of a car tire but I am sure they have to get way more mileage than any bike tire out. I am on my 4th tire an d I only have 18k on my bike. I do ride a little on the rough side and don’t do any highway so I do loose miles because of the city riding but I average about 5-6k miles out of a tire
Go to the DARKSIDE thread or google Darkside - Car tires on motorcycles. I've found size charts and conversions. They also have a couple of run flats the will fit later cruisers, you just have to do the research on sizing. Also not everyone will mount them (legal issues). Should get about 30K miles. I know there are a couple of PD officers running them, the say handling is fine, straightline is much more stable, softer ride, and they're on them most of the day.
