I just bought my first H-D yesterday! The bike is a Heritage, 88CI, 5-speed, fuel injected. Are there any issues I should be aware of for that year or model. The bike is in great shape with 8400 miles. Any feedback would be appreciated!
I would same at 10-15k miles get the cam chain tensioner checked. While they are in there you might as well get a cam and new torington cam bearing installed also. Those 2 things are the only things I would put on my to do list and then just ride thar sucker.
I would check the cam chains tensioners at ~30k miles. 05 heads were known to have leaky valve seals, something like that. Just change the fluids and ride the byotch!
I had an '04 Heritage ...loved it..great ride.
I had the cam chain tensioners changed at 50k miles. The mechanic said they showed very little wear. ( but put new ones in since he was 'in there'.) Some go earlier and some like mine just go on and on like the energizer bunny.
Enjoy that Softail.
