I have only had one bad experience that I felt was oil related and that was on a truck,And it involved amsoil but it was back in the early 80s.EATON said it was the oil but I never was convinced positively because they warrantied everything that failed. It was on a new truck that I was there when the lube was changed in the transmission and front rear end.The back rear end was left alone and it lived the trans and front rear end died and the lube was burnt up to look like tar.It was my first real experience with synthetic
Fast forward 30 years and my bet would be most oils are manufactured by some large companies that sell name brand but also do additive packages for the little guys.So finding a truly bad oil probably would be hard to do
I just swapped in Redline V-Twin Trans with Schockproof last night. Sure hope I don't have the same troubles. One thing is for sure- I gotta find a different way of doing it. Make a big mess every time.
Thanks for the input guys. I can only hope and pray I have nothing going on. I swapped trannys, since mine is an 06 it came with the 5 speed. I swapped it out with a SE 6 speed and it only has 2000 miles on it. I guess I will find out this week. I am pulling the side cover to have a look, clean it out and put either the Amsoil back in it or possibly try the Lucas gear lube in it. I am just glad for you guys who use it had nothing but good results.
I was surprised in a good way when I completed my 5,000 mile service on my new to me Deluxe last week. I used the factory HD Transmission & Gear oil in the trans and primary. I used HD Screamin Eagle Synthetic in the motor. Honestly, my bike shifts with a lot less clunk and the clutch is a lot smoother. I was not expecting any change, but dang, those lubes are great so far. I am sticking with the factory stuff at this point.
I had just the opposite experience with Redline this weekend. I switched all 3 holes on my 09 Streetglide 96/6 speed. Ran it all weekend and couldn't believe the noticeable improvements. Tranny was waaaaay smoother and quieter. Clutch was smooth on engagement and didn't ever try to slip even on standing steep uphill starts. 100 degree day and maintained over 40 psi of engine oil pressure all day.
Maybe each bike responds differently to the different products. My bike is loving the Redline oils and I will be running it until I see or hear reason not to. EW
I bought there V-twin power pack Thur amazon 89.00 free shipping . 5 quarts 20-50 1 q trans 1 q primary for my 08 rocker @ 5600 miles could not be happier.
