I put Redline Shockproof Heavy in my 2010 Street Glide when I did my 10,000 mile service. Not all that impressed with it, in fact think I am going to drop it tomorrow when I do an oil change on the bike. 3500 miles and the Redline hasn't proven to work any better than the Syn 3 did for the first 10,000 miles. Will likely go with HD Formula Plus like I use in the Primary or maybe some Mobil 1 75w90
Amsoil 20/50 in motor and primary, 75/110 in tranny. Maybe it's just because my bike was "born" on Amsoil and never had anything else. My bike just don't like it for some reason. If I go back to Amsoil and still have these same problems, well, maybe I have something else going on!!!
OK guys, per my original post on this thread I started you guys know the story. My bike just did not like the Redline for what ever reason. A few guys got me to wondering if I had something else going on. I pulled the side of my tranny case to get that Redline out and to see if I could see anything going on that may have caused the issues I started having when I changed to the Redline. I couldn't see a thing wrong, I flushed that Redline out and went back to my Amsoil and buttoned the bike back up and put my Amsoil back in. It was instantly back to its original self, smooth shifting both up and down, I could hit neutral 1st time every time and no more whining just like before the Redline. I don't know why such a big difference but I really don't care. All I know is my bike is back to where it was before the Redline. I won't sit here and slam the Redline, all I can say is my bike just didn't like that stuff. I said I would re-post after going back to the Amsoil so here it is.
I tried Redline and did not like it...After someone on here said they found chunks of redline in the transmission bearings, I checked my bottle of redline and it is NOT CERTIFIED AS A GL4 OR GL5!! It also does not state that it will not void your warranty...I like my amsoil gear lube way better...
Red-line is a blender,as is Amsoil, royal purple etc. They develop and blend their own products and I've found that they are usually at the top of the heap as far as quality is concerned,as is Amsoil.
I had a noise problem on my bike but it was mobil 1 so I understand the whole "bike not liking it" thing. Sometimes you just gotta try a few different products and see what feels or sounds best for you.

What we need to keep in mind is these trannys are loud. By using a product that MASKS the noise might not always be the best for the transmission over the long haul. For instance, one product masks the 5th gear whine, but is so sticky (good for gears) that it doesn't adequately lube the bearings. Great for ones ego thinking he solved the noise problem, but that same ego will deflate when the bearing goes south. I personally never use higher than a 110 weight, usually use a 90, in the gearbox. Better to hear a little noise knowing that fluid is slinging around in there touching EVERY moving part adequately. Masking a noise problem, only to create another problem, isn't the answer. Especially with the 6 speed gearbox problems. The 5 speeds were pretty much bulletproof but the 6 speeds don't seem to be so solid. I seem to remember reading something about the 6 speeds developing bearing issues from running 140 weight. Not sure how reliable that info was but it's something to research and ponder for sure.
I have been running the Amsoil 20w50 in the motor and recently went with Redline Heavy Shockproof in the tranny, about 2k miles ago. So far so good, I haven’t noticed anything unusual. I really haven’t noticed that the shifting is any quieter than before, despite all the hype. I decided to use Redline since everyone seems to recommend it and there are high temps out here in the summer.
I've tried a few different brands of tranny oil so far, and I've found the quietness of gear shifts seems more related to shifting technique, rather than the lubricant used. But that's just me....
