between the two bikes you mentioned I would look at the cross bones, I love the look of that bike and it is pretty comfortable to.
Just my 2 cents.
You didnt mention a fat boy low did you?
Those are cool, low, fat and very black.
I love boards over pegs on any bike, just feels more secure to me I like having my whole foot planted most of the time but that is just preference.

Thanks Lump.

I hadn't really considered the Lo or the Slim too much at first really because I'm not the biggest fan of those wide fat forks, but honestly they are growing on me.

The Lo is pretty black but still not black enough out of the box, but I'm crazy like that. When I see an ad for a bike and they list it as "lots of chrome!" I sneer a little bit. Different strokes as they say.

The Lo looks pretty good with those hard bags too. I could get some detachable hard bags (like what I see on the Shotgun Lo) and turn it into a mild touring bike when necessary.

Criminy...Night Trains are not that rare. And unlike mine, most of them are black! There are 185 of them on the chopper exchange right now. Not to mention cycle trader and ebay.

If your going to look at it, the Deluxe. If your going to ride it and sell/trade it 1 day the Heritage Classic. Any softail model other then these 2 models have a more limited market and will cost you to sell/trade. Black is the best overall choice for many reasons.

Thanks for the help. It looks like there are five of them within 250 miles of me.

I love the look of the crossbones but it just didn't fit me right. Seat was too high and at 175lbs I jut didn't sink it. Love the springer.

I bought a slim and totally blacked it. At least he major shiny parts.
A good friend has a blacked out train and that's the reason I bought a harley.
Having had pegs on a sporty and boards on my slim ill say the boards are great for me. Im adjusting to the lean angle though.
I just assumed you were looking for a used bike given the models you listed?

I didn't read every post, so forgive me if I repeat - I love the cross bones and highly recommend it. Are you an aggressive rider? I'm not and find the springer a little bouncy and scrape the boards. Please don't mistake any of the previous sentence as negative - just some more facts to help you decide.

I'm not that aggressive of a rider, I've only scraped my pegs less than a dozen times. And that's really only scraping that scrape indicator peg that hangs off of the pegs.

I still haven't completely decided if I'm going to keep my Iron, but if I keep it I assume I could ride a lot more aggressive on it anyway.
On the other hand if I sell it I'll just have that much more money to go into the Softail.
