Congrats...welcome to the Fatboy lo club! These guys will have you spending some money in the best ways. I can offer some suggestions, but you sound like you have a great handle on it. Congrats on graduating up a class from the Iron
TampaKingPin - How do you like those V&H pipes, I had the staggered short shots on my iron, but I was eyeing the same ones you have on your bike...still loud with a good sound I assume?
I am thinking that the 2-into-2 big radius might be a bit louder because you get sound sound "echo" or rebound off of the ground. They are pretty intense. I love the big, deep growl and would highly recommend them.
Some interesting information: They are pricey, they run hot even though they have a heat shield, I get quite a bit of attention due to the sound and the look. I bought them for increase in performance, but a longer pipe will do a bit more than a short pipe. They also were able to fit without moving my passenger peg. Small but interesting.
As I am not new to the forum, I am new to the Softail section. On Saturday I traded in my 2011 XL883N Iron (pictured below) for a Brand New 2012 Vivid Black Fat Boy Lo (pictured below) plus some cash, obviously.
My Iron had about 2,000 miles on it, as I only had it for about 3 months, and they gave me $7k for that bike on trade in (stealer started at $3,999 but I worked them up to $7k). They started at $18,900 for the Fat Boy Lo with ABS/Security, and through about an hour of negotiating, I got them down to $10k for the bike, with ABS/Security, Service Manual and 1,000 mile service thrown in.
I like to think I got a heck of a deal on the bike, and just from riding it home from the dealership, I couldn't be happier with my new purchase. Let me know your thoughts, and also what type of Mods you guys suggest I do right away. (No worries, the reflectors were the first thing to come off the bike!)
Thanks,
Barbs
Not sure about the "deal" you got but as long as you are happy then that's what counts. I NEVER trade anything in and have always been able to sell vehicles on the street for far more than any dealer will offer in trade.
The Lo is a cool scoot for sure. I think you will have a ton of enjoyment riding it. Have fun and stay safe.
