Planning Stage 1 DL and have my V&H Fuelpak in my lap now. Doing V&H VO2 and V&H Propipe Black. Glad you are getting it worked out. I'll follow for final results update.
Just an update. Me and the wife took the bike out a few days ago for a short cruise and we just basically went to see the scenary and the bike runs awesome, and so far no ping, but its kinda cool out right now, but the only difference I really see or I should say hear is that the idle seems to be just a hair higher than it was. But for the difference on performance and no ping, I will leave it be. I will keep you all updated especially if we get some warmer weather.
gregory agee, i am planning on buying a fuel pak for softail from vance and hines, i have their pipes and aftermarket air cleaner. I too had HD remap my bike? I spoke to V&H friday and they told me the map wouldn't take care of running lean but the fuel pak would keep it cooler etc. Are you saying you cant have the map done and run the fuel pak at the same time? I go to mid ohio for my service?
Airborneretired,
The map is as good as the dealership will do based upon EPA specs so in order to richen your bike which will keep it cooler, you will have to purchase a aftermarket fuel manager, like the fuelpak, and various others. The fuelpak is not a guarantee of tuning your bike to perfection but it can make a huge difference and also get it very close. The fuelpak can not change timing, where a sert (screamin eagle race tuner) on a dyno can tune your bike to perfection. It takes about 2 hours on a dyne as what I was told by the dealership to tune a bike with a sert. I think its hard on the bike but I know many people that have had it done. As for doing a map and a fuelpak, one bike might run better with just the hd map and another runs better by having hd map and adding a fuelpak. Its test and trial with a fuelpak. I will keep you updated on what mine is doing as I go forward.
I bought my bike from Mid-Ohio and got a great deal.
Good Luck
