Mine fell off and I went to the Harley-Davidson dealership they quoted me $199 Pro replacement lever I'm like Jesus Christ this thing is like a $20 part but no even the whole ignition is only 206 I can't believe it's such a racket. How are they going to build something that actually falls off of bike? I looked all over the place JP a place called Ronnie and I'm telling you right now the only solution to the problem that I have if I had Harley-Davidson bypass the ignition so that only my key fob works and I can turn the bike on and off on the handlebars
Ridiculous !! they made me change the entire assembly just because the thumb lever fell off.. it is a generic part.. it is not like the part has to go with your particular ignition switch... unfortunately the part is not sold as a separate item..
What do you mean with FOB? uhm.. mine didn't come with a FOB.. just the ignition key..
technically it is possible to replace the ignition switch with a generic ignition switch with a key.. it takes some tinkering.. but it is possible.. I know the inner workings of the ignition switch really well.. why?.. because I hacked it.. lol.. check this out (that is my Blackline):

Man, look at the following link. You need part number 18 in the drawing. That is the lever and set screw, HD part number 71796-11.
I know it's available - I had to order one myself.
Apparently Harley didn't use Loctite on the Breakout either. The really bad news is 71796-11 is no longer orderable and stock has been depleted. They now make you order the entire switch assembly at $200! A guy at one of the dealerships told me for a hundred dollars more you might as well get the security system and remove the switch. This was the complaint letter I mailed out today to the mother ship in Milwaukee.
The problem resides in the retention of the ignition switch **** on the FXSB. There is a set screw that goes into this switch that wiggles loose over time and the switch just falls off. Mine is currently laying somewhere on a highway in Idaho I assume. It takes quite a bit of effort to turn the ignition on without that ****.
I assumed this was really no big deal and that I could go to the dealership and just order the ****. The good news is that the **** itself (part number 71796-11) is only $17. The bad news is your company decided to discontinue the **** and offer it only with the entire ignition switch assembly at $200. Meaning new keys and the dealership has to replace it. Ridiculous.
I called HD customer care and was informed there were three dealerships that may have this part in stock. That was not the case. Every parts person I talked to at those dealerships stated that they average about 5 calls a month asking for that part number. This was a pervasive problem with the Blackline and now it appears that problem has been moved over to the Breakout. Simple googling of that part number on the internet results in droves of people in forums that have had the same problem.
Based on the level of people experiencing this problem it certainly sounds like a recall in my opinion, however I personally would be satisfied if you would simply offer the **** part number (71796-11) at $17 again. I can use Loctite and do it right the first time myself.

Went thru same scenario .... part obsolete but we can sell you the nearly $200 switch. Money-grubbing arsewipes. Have been unable to find any aftermarket fix w/o buying a new switch.
Lever / ****, fell off my Blackline, I now use a key from a different bike to turn on and off , and use the key for this bike to lock it. This is a good work around until I find the part or make one, will not buy the whole switch just for this part, that would be Crazy!
Well damn, mine fell off while I was down at Thunder Beach today. I stopped by the dealer and they said the same thing about only selling the whole assembly. Has anybody found an aftermarket replacement?? $209 for the whole assembly is highway theft...
