Nigelo:

Heritage Classic VS Deluxe? You win with either choice.

But, for my taste, there are a few little details that drew me to the Deluxe over the Heritage Classic:

First, I love the metal tank badge on the Deluxe VS the decal on the HC. Next, I like the retro look of the metal bar on the back of the Deluxe seat. Although small, I much prefer the fender tip trim on the Deluxe too. Finally, the Tombstone brake light and bullet tip turn signal lights are very attractive VS HC.

One change I did make that was an issue on my Deluxe was to switch out the stock swept back riser for HD 1" straight risers. This really opened up the cockpit for me and it gives my Deluxe a longer, lower stance.

Both bikes are fabulous IMO. For me, the Deluxe has these small details that just edge the HC out.

Good luck.

Mike

I am a fan of the FLST ... a friend loaned me his Evo '96 Heritage while my bike was in the shop for a couple of weeks a little over a year ago ...

In my view, there are a few styling characteristics that I really love that neither come stock with ... but are easy enough to realize starting from either platform ....

(1) Prefer the Heritage risers/mini-apes ...

(2) Heritage bags ... or bagless ... or Osprey Ltd Buffalo Indian Chief repro bags modeled on the Springer Heritage bags ... (the MoCo GMA 'DeLuxe' basket-weave bags are an abomination, IMO) ...

(3) speaking of the Heritage Springer ... the exhaust beats Deluxe and Heritage both ... hands down ... close second true duals with fishtails ...

(4) footboards ... neither ... Crossbones or Slim take-offs ...

(5) I do like the smooth chrome tins of the Deluxe over the 'chevron' pressed tins of the Heritage ... but, either will do ... or get the 'freight train' chrome nacelle ...

(6) I prefer the tombstone taillamp and rear turn signals of the Deluxe ...

(7) DeLuxe tank badges are nicer, too ... IMO ... or go with some of the nostalgic ones from the '60s ...

* * *

Oh yeah ... the subject was handling / lean angle ... uh ... whatever ...

Ride as hard as you can ... or feel comfortable ... you'll enjoy the experience even if you get there a few minutes later after your friend on the Ducati ...

Lean angle on my LO sucks because of the boards. Get rid of the boards and the problem is solved. My BadBoy will get over pretty far with the forward controls before you scrape the primary, and it is lowered front and back over 2".

What is funny is that the only one concerned about lean angles is the OP. I don't think anybody else really gives a **** about "lean angles" with regards to how their own bikes perform. I know I don't. I love my bike and it works for me. Period.

Hope the OP found the answer he was looking for.
