Just wanted to get a concensus here from the Deluxe owners (or anyone one else who wants to chime in). I took the new Deluxe out today for a little ride and I went around an exit ramp (pretty good lean but nothing to write home about) that I have done a hundred times on my Sporty and I heard a sound completely new to me and then I realized that I was dragging the boards on the pavement. I am just wondering if this just really proves how little of a lean the Deluxe has and if anyone else does that on a regular basis. Believe me, I am not complaining nor am I one who likes to drag anything around curves. I just wanted to hear from those who have had the bike longer than me and thus more time on the road. Any other info about the bike I should know would be greatly appreciated to. I really am loving this bike and I cannot wait until Sprig rolls around. Today was what we call a "gift" day.
Thanks!
-Cheers!!
Mine does the same thing - part of the Deluxe mystique of being so low to the ground. I did fix it a bit by tightening up the shocks a couple of turns, which has allowed me to keep up with my riding group without scraping.
I too came from a sportster. The first few rides on my Heritage a scraped the boards each time. Now I an conscience of it and I have not done it since. A couple friends of mine hang bells under the boards for an alarm.
Mine drag too, sorta gives you alittle scare the first time you hear it! I'm a little worried that when i chane the pipes (most look lower, under passanger peg) they will hit going over little curbs??
My last bike was a fatboy , I scraped them all the time too , so I ended up putting on a set of forward controls , better comfort and no more scraping.
Drag mine all the time. Pipes too. Ground off the clamps on the stockers nearly all the way. I am working my way to slash cut mufflers now as I grind the bottom off of my new pipes.
It's not bad until you hit something rigid and the rear tire lifts up. That or when you hit hard and knock your foot off the board.
