My Slim has done this on two different rides. It would stay high enough to where I could maintain 50-55 mph in 5th gear. Then it would just stop and go back to normal idle. I took it by the dealer and they of course could not duplicate it. Hopefully someone will chime in here about this... Subscribed.
Thanks for the tip but if the screw were tightened I think it would do it all the time, but I did make sure it was out because I thought of that first time it did it. This is strange because it rarely does it and when it does, it slowly ramps up to around 1800/2000 rpm.

It can hang the idle intermittenly but sounds like you eliminated it. Ive heard of a dealer down load fix too. Have you cleaned the IAC?
I haven't, the bike has 500 miles on it so I fear if I do anything at this point they will cry (warranty void). I will make a phone call to the dealer and ask if they have any kind of a service bulletin for it now. It was two weeks ago when I took it by so they could tell me nothing was wrong with it.
Don't know what causes it, but mine does it every so often.. like 3-4 times a yr.
Don't think its as high as Urs, maybe around 1400-1500 rpms or so and would do it for a minute or two..
Couple times I just shut her down and wait 30secs and re start and all is good.
Imagine its something with the ECM re-setting it self.
Before I had the SERT and dyno she used to just Idle so low she'd die (about 6 times), but after the restart she run perfect...
The Sert and dyno fixed that one...
Also another thing she used to do was rev up a little bit (couple 100 rpms) when I would come to a stop. then move forward a few ft more, she'd do that more often than like above. But she don't even do that like she used to anymore..

.
That sounds like this chick I used to be married to...
even though something like that should come correct from the factory, check the throttle cables to make sure they arent too tight.
Mine was doing something like that but it was only when I had the engine running and I turned the front end all the way to the right, the cables were too tight and when I turned the front end the throttle would come open and idle fast
