I'm not completely understanding how the side mount license plate bracket mounts to the axle. Does it go inside or outside the swing arm? I have a 2009 Night Train. Here's a link to the one I'm looking at.
The one I got from road6customs mounted outside the swingarm. Just popped off the pin and removed the axle nut. I also had to remove a washer that was just inside the axle nut. Otherwise I couldn't get the locking pin back on.
Like lupus, mine mounts in place of the 3mm washer inside the axle nut, but still outside of the swingarm. The one you linked to looks like it mounts in place of the one inch outer axle spacer, which I believe is still inside the swingarm. If that's the case, I wouldn't use it. Too big a pain to install. There are better choices. That one is too bulky imho, anyway...

This is what I was thinking too. Looks like it replaces the spacer which would be a PITA to install.
I actually mounted my road6 mount inside the swing arm for that reason.
I was wondering if this was possible because I would like to get chrome swing arm covers and figured if I mounted it on the inside it would work. Did you keep the washer on the outside and was there something you replaced on the inside with the plate mount?
I bought the thin cheapy as I didn't like the ones with the tailights on them. Bonus for me is that the wheel is off the bike as I'm in the process of putting a larger one on there. Either way though, the hardest part about removing the axle will be if it doesn't clear your exhaust. Thank god my heatshield slid back.

I am running an 07 rear wheel on my 06 so I had to utilize custom spacers in the first place. I simply used a spacer about 1/8" narrower and put the plate between the spacer and swing arm. It would be as simple as cutting/grinding the same amount off your stock spacer. Everything on the outside of the swing arm is stock on mine....spacer, washer and nut.

That makes perfect sense. Now I wonder if the swing arm covers would fit in front of the curved plate?
