Default Checked MPG at 80 w/6 speed

Got my first real chance to test the gas mileage at 80 mph on my Night Train with the Screaming Eagle 6-Speed I had installed. Went out to Big Bend this weekend, but needed to get back early Sunday so took off by myself on a straight shot back on I10. Riding with the group the speed varies just too much to check it. I was able to make two runs, one 112 miles (Fort Stockton to Ozona) and the second 92 miles (Ozona to Junction)at 80 mph. My speed did not vary from 79 to 81 mph for 99% of each run. Pegging at exactly 3,000 rpm at 80 mph, I got 40.16 mpg and 39.92 mpg. Figure that’s pretty good for a 2003 - 88B engine.

There is some nice riding at Big Bend. Went from Panther Junction north to Marathon in about 35 minutes. I guess you could we sped a little. Great roads to ride. I wasn't on my Fatboy, but Moto Guzzi Le Mans, still a big twin. If you get the chance go out there during Thanksgiving.

I have been thinking about upgrading to a six speed. Might do it next year.

I would get about 33 to 35 with my 5 speed doing that mph. After seventy it sucks it down like crazy
