Default Push Rod Dilema

I have a cam conversion kit on the way w/ new cams so I'm looking to get new Adjustable PR's ( I don;t want to remove the heads). There must be 1,000 threads on PR's and 10,000 (or more) opinions.

Well I need more and have a couple of questions:

1) I looked at Crane Timesaver's and they look to be "bullet proof". This video (
) however says that because they have a bigger ball on the end they are not compatible with stock lifters. Of course the Video is on a Shovel Head but............ Anybody confirm this statement??? I want to reuse my stock lifters as I only have 10,000 miles on the bike and the cam is moderate (Andrews 26)

2) The SE Premium Tapered did have a history of "poor" quality steel (specifically the nuts) and cracking. Nothing worse than have your nuts cracked (LOL) except maybe having your TC88 come apart at 3500 rpm and 80 mph!!! Did they get this problem corrected?

3) I would love to be able to use my stock PR covers which appears to be an issue with many adjustables. Crane says the Timeservers will work and can be adjusted (perhaps with some effort) using the stock covers. Anybody got any other suggestions for PR's that will work with stock covers??

The bike info is in my sig block.

Thanks, Dwight

I have Andrews 26h in mine with SE adjustable rods...over 20 000 miles on them now...no issues yet...It's what my indy told me to use...My bike has 73000 miles on it and runs quiet. I used 3 turns on the rod i think,...
The SE's came with new covers so no problems there...I know you have a 06 and i an 07 but... the rods would be built the same...the cracking of the nut was due to over torquing i think i heard...

That's exactly the type of feedback I was hoping for. I (Originally) leaned towards the SE tapered but I'm concerned about the "bad press". I have Chrome Cash to spend at the HD Dealer so that would be the preferred route but I don't want to risk my "build" either.

Still doing the research as nothing beats real world experience.

Thanks

Get a good set of adjustable chromoly pushrods and they will be bulletproof. I used Fuel Moto's quick install PRs and they have performed flawlessly (and quietly) for the past year. They are chromoly, you can use them with the stock lifters and they will fit in the stock tubes. Sounds like just what the Dr. ordered, does it not? Call Jamie at FM. He'll get you set up...

I used the Andrew's aluminum push rods when I did the same TW26's in my old Dyna. I used the stock tubes with them and had no issues at all. They're all going to be a little tricky to adjust at first but once you figure out the placement of your wrenches and fingers it's not that bad.

My buddy has the SE adjustable's with probably 15K miles on them and no issues either. These were from the "bad" batch too.

Just installed a set of Fuel Moto adjustables, work with stock tubes and relatively easy to install, and there's a YouTube video to walk you through it.

Used Andrews aluminum adjustables and stock tubes. BARELY enuff room to work. Approximately 6000 miles, no trouble. Got some tubes for adjustables for when I do the BB kit. $60 for tubes only.
