Tach install
Yeah, I like the way the one I went with looks better personally, but if I had to do it again and could get a plug and play one for the same price...its a no brainer!
I went with the Dakota Digital MCL-2004 on mine when I rebuilt the whole bike. I like the way it looks in the HD one piece dash, 71208-07. It works great and looks good. It auto corrected the speedometer that was off due to me going from a 32 to a 30 tooth trans sprocket. It shows what gear you are in and it fixed my neutral light and a few other things. I'm sure the HD one will do the same but I have no experience with theirs. Good luck finding what you want.
Wow, that looks sweet. And for the price its a must have for me as well. Does anyone where the ODO memory is stored. If I install the new speedo, does my milage go back to zero or is the milage store in the bikes computor?
I went with part# 74744-08 on my bike. It is listed as only fitting 08-10 softails but that is for plug and play. Physically it will fit your bike. The wiring is another story. To be honest with you I can't remember if I had to buy a wiring harness adapter to make it work or if I just wired it on my own. When I did it I was rebuilding the entire bike top to bottom so my memory is blurred on it. I just remember I had trouble getting it to read accurate at first but finally got her figured out.
You know the old saying, "if I can do it, anyone can do it". It is pretty accurate in this case because when it comes to wiring and electronics I am a total moron.

Depending on the year of your bike, it will plug in under your seat and marry itself to to the bike. That's when it learns your mileage. You then have like 31 miles until its locked in.
