So far it is a great fit as far as comfort, but the one thing I really miss is the sound of the pipes.

I only have 250 miles on it so far, only got out 2 days since I have had it 4 days ago. I am hoping the pipes open up a bit and get a bit louder, is this the case?

My wife has very sensitive hearing and I understand her need to to have things on the quiet side, but I would love the have the pipes ring out a bit more than the engine.
My Street Glide had stock pipes but sounded great without being to loud.

I will probably wait until next year if I were to do anything with the pipes, but I am afraid some would be to much and I am also needed to keep expenses low, I am already in the dog house.

So those of you that have a 2013 with stock pipes, have they become better with some time?

Thanks
Dan

Funny.....Funny, I've been doing allot of touring on my Fatboy and have been thinking I'd switch to a Road King or Street Glide. What was the thing that made you switch. Was it handling, Rider Position, Weight?

Color was the biggest issue LOL.

I had the Anniversary Copper and Black scheme and it just never grew on me. I loved the Street Glide otherwise. The Heritage does seem to ride better. I was also looking for a change and something a bit more classic.

I ended up having Rush 2" slipons installed yesterday.

I love the sound, my wife does not.
I am hoping she will get used to them.

If I have to I will order the smaller baffles in order to tone the pipes down a little.

Buy the old lady some ear plugs.

Just kidding. I love my Vance and Hines, but I also really loved the Cobras I used to have.

Neither are too loud and they really quiet down once you're cruising.

Welcome to the Heritage family! They're great bikes, and you should really enjoy your ride.

I had stock pipes for my first 1,000 miles. They never got any louder, and always had an annoying tone that sounded more like an old VW bug to me than a Harley. I went with Khrome Werks slip-ons and have been extremely happy with them... nice deep tone, but not too loud. Another slip-on you might consider is the American Custom line. They have inter-changable baffles that can produce different tones.

I kept my stock mufflers, just in case my state ever moves to bi-annual inspections or similar.

I had my stock exhaust modified by American custom exhaust. SITE SPONSOR, LIST ON RIGHT. They did a great job on mine and my brothers heritage. Breaths and sounds better, very cost effective and they have multiple baffles to choose from. We love ours. Check out their website.

After losing much of my hearing running PA systems for Rock bands for 10+ years. I decided to try 2" Rush slip-ons for my Sportster. Big mistake. Not only did the noise cause additional hearing loss in my right ear... but the money I had to spend on tuners caused deep pain in my wallet.

I'm thankful I elected to keep my 2013 Heritage stock... and quiet... both from a hearing perspective and a wallet perspective. Not to mention the fact that the wife no longer complains about her ears ringing after a casual 50 mile ride.

I guess I'm officially too old to give a $hit about making a racket while riding. As well as too old to give a $hit what other riders think about my wimpy, whispering Heritage. Embrace the silence.
