Default Springer Shocks vs Tube Shocks??

Hello Fellas,

I'm considering a Softail bike to move up from a Sportster. My question is, I was checking out a nice Springer Classic but not sure how that front end holds up on some roads here in NYC as apposed to the heavy FL front end most Softails have (e.g. Fatboy, Heritage, etc). I ride two-up 95% of the time so I need a little riding comfort for both of us. Anyone here has experience riding both types? It would help me in my purchase. Thanks

Once you ride a Springer.. You won't want a hydro front end.

Solo, 2-up, whatever. The Springer handles it all

Man, they were putting Springers on Harleys long before paved roads were even common to many areas of the United States. You won't hurt a Springer hitting pot holes any worse than any other front end. They are tough as nails. The only thing to concern yourself with is Springers have more regular required maintenece to the neck bearings than hydro forks. Other than that they are bullet proof.

I ride a Springer in Ireland, and our roads are a lot worse than the worst fo yours, but I love my Springer and would never go back!

The springer has less than half the travel of most of the telescopic forks, so you'll be giving up a lot when going over the big bumps.

It has less "stiction" though, so it can follow small irregularities quite well.

I have an '08 Crossbones that I ride on the streets of chicago. 90% of my riding is 2-up with my wife. It handles the roads/potholes a LOT better than my sporty did.

Hi rgjujitsu, I also live downtown chicago. Where abouts? I'm in the west loop area.
