Looking at the wiring diagram the extra black and extra yellow are for future passing lamp add on if required. I am thinking I am going to get into the bundle near the triple tree make the splice on yellow (low beam) mount the switch on the tree cover and be done with it ... I am heading out to NAPA autoparts see if I can find a nice small sealed spdt switch or a small toggle switch... Thanks for warning me not to run without relay or switch ... will update on how it goes..
Brusier there are lots and lots of folks who are running HID kits without issues. The light output over stock is significant. However looking at the phase 7 LED the price is out of my range. Phase 7 headlight is $299 vs. HID kit that cost me $29.99. I would rather to stick to my HID kit. The more I work on my bike the better I get to know her, that is how I see it... Appreciate the suggestion though ...
I also wired my switch into the ground.
A problem I might be having with my hid light (I and not sure if it is a problem yet or not since I have only riden once because of the weather) is mine I mounted in the oem 5 3/4 bucket and the bulb comes all the way out to the glass, so I think some of the light is going up and out of the top glass lense and missing the reflector. I will have to get the bike out at night and see what I think. Maybe that is why the tell you with a 5 3/4 light to use and adjure/bullet headlight??
So the linked eBay kit will have hi and lo beam function with the switch on the handlebar, both modes in HID?
Yes it has both hi and low. Both hid. Hid are only one element. When you switch to hi or low there is a magnet and the bulb moves back and forth adjusting the position of the bulb making it either hi or low
Oh sweet Lord this is awesome!!!! I ride a dyna so I think I'll mount a switch under the battery box or something like that. Splice it right into where the ground runs into the connector under the seat.

i run the sportiva kit from forte motors on my softail. its only 54 bucks shipped...it was a rather cumbersome kit... it was the plug and play mostly, it came with a relay already with it, that i had to run the power and ground wires back to the battery. it works perfect.. when i flip on ignition switch it all fires up.. with out the relay, the safety circuit would then shut it off... once i wired in the relay that came with the kit.. good to go... just like the regular headlight.. I was going to buy this kit here listed for my dads sportster, as I had a bit of trouble jamming everything in my headlight bucket.. this one here i thought may fit... but now i am a lil concerned...
