I see a lot of questions about on/off and delay switches. I just wanted to post up a pic of how I solved the issue for me. All I wanted was a solid way to turn the light off when I started the bike. So I installed a water proof marine switch from NAPA to the ground wire. Works like a charm. I have no proof one way or the other that its needed, but I just wanted it. So I now have a whole 30 bucks into this light, but as freakin' bright as it is, its money very well spent.

I was optimistic about the switching the ground option but after slicing the harness jacket coming out of the bucket I see there are 2 black, 1 yellow & 1 White going back under the tank. I don't want to lift the tank to do this switch.

If I am looking at the 3 pin inside the headlamp bucket "I_I" I have 2 black going to the left post, 2 yellow going to the bottom pin & white going to the right pin. I am assuming that White is the ground here, Am I correct? Black is the hot for high, Yellow hot for low.

The extra yellow and black will be hooked up to the passing lamp in such a way that when you are low beam (yellow) will power the passing lamp. When you flip high beam, current flows through the black and power down the passing lamp when in high..

Can someone confirm the wires.

1) Yellow = Low
2) Black = High
3) White = Ground

When looking at your plug this will show you what each wire is

Thanks jd8181... makes more sense.

in my case there are 2 black ground wires running down all the way under the tank. 1 hot high white and 2 yellow low. 1 yellow low terminates outside the bucket the remaining 4 go down under the tank.

switching ground is not an option for me since there are two of them. I will have to just switch the low hot (Yellow) like motown did since my bike is always in low when ignition is off.

you could cut both ground wires , remember onece the bike starts you turn them back on , so then all your lights will be working

Thank you everyone from Motown who started the thread and provided the confidence, everyone else who provided valuable information. I eventually followed 1st 96 Ultra's advice and switched both the grounds going to the headlamp. I installed the HID the easiest way I can. I know I am going to let couple of my friends know what and how to do this if they want to go that route. They dont ride Harley's but sure they can benefit from them ...

Thanks everyone.
