You can also expect to strip several bolts on various parts of the bike so looking up the various removal techniques is a must. Those techniques include but are not limited to drilling out the bolt head, etching a slot with a dremel and using a flat tip screwdriver, vise grips, blow torch ect. Some have also recommended an impact screwdriver. Not everybody strips bolts but it seems like it happens to most sooner or later. Harley's bolts seem a little soft for some reason.

I've seen my fair share of stripped bolts and impossible to reach bolts on cars before! It always turns into a lesson on becoming creative to remove them!!! Thanks for all of the replies guys!

And become friends with your local mechanic. Those manuals are only slightly helpful and inevitably something will go wrong and you'll need to call someone. Don't ask me how I know this.

Other than that, save your money for mods.

First thing I got was a shop manual from HD and the second was a bike jack. All kinds of threads on this site about motorcycle jacks......how they work, what they cost and how stable are they. My opinion is the motorcycle jack was the best $$$$ I've spent so far. Enjoy! Be Safe!

Posts some pics when you get that Fatboy home!
