By the way, these bikes don't slide down the road on their side as gracefully the transverse 4-cylinder sport bikes I was used to. They slide flat as a pancake. Count on the tank getting smashed, even the headlight. That's aside from legs and such.

I am thinking of getting a Lindbar for my Night Train. Just not sure how it would look.
I have an engine guard, I thought about buying one like the photo you have. I considered the sharp edges on that particular bar and thought about how often I walk, sit and climb over my bike while it is parked or when I'm cleaning it and got one with smooth edges.

I put the Harley "crash bar" on my bike about six months in. The FL Softail just looks incomplete without it. One week after installing it, I dropped the bike on the driveway-I was pushing it into the garage, and my foot slipped on a puddle of oil left by the landlady's car. Boy, was I surprised when the bike didn't fall on top of me on its side! I'd completely forgotten about the bar. Not only did the bar save my primary cover and who knows what else from damage, but it's a lot easier to pick the bike up since it doesn't fall all the way down.

LOL, that was my wife in the photos, and the bike is primarily her scoot.

Me, I'm much more feminine, and still obsessed with getting my Honda 50 cc scooter over 31 mph.

We go riding together sometimes, and I get home about a week after she does. Might need to put some performance apehangers on so I can keep up.

haha. I've got an older Honda Elite that I'm trying to get above 30mph.

And I love the look of the Lindby bars. I'm looking for one for my Night Train as well. Ebay has quite a few but they're all over $300. I'm hoping to find a used one somewhere. Post up some pics if you end up finding one!

I am after the old school look of this 2012 Heritage. So, I chose the classic HD engine guard and the saddlebag guards as well. The highway pegs are a necessity for long rides. No engine guard...no highway pegs.

I have the regular engine guard. Looks OK on the bike.
Very glad I installed it too. Has saved me from considerable damage.

Lost control over the bike about 6 weeks ago (combination of loose gravel/sand, 20° incline, and being in wrong gear). Couldn't hold the bike up, and it slid about 3 - 4 foot down the concrete road.

Only damage some scratches on the passenger foot board and engine guard. (see pics). Cleaned it up, put some black paint on it and you can hardly see it.

Had a similar accident in 1993 with my FXRs, no engine guard ... new tank, new handlebar, new rear fender, struts and rear indicators, scratched primary cover.
