It's one of those jobs you say: "I'm not paying $300.. to have someone install bars and wire them, damn it!"

Then after spilling gas from removing the tank, breaking a string in the bars, and trying to get all the wires to turn out the exit hole, panic about the grip glue setting before you get it in the right position, spilling more gas installing and filling the tank and adding 50.00 to the swear jar you say:

"I'm never doing that again, i'll pay someone next time, damn it!"

Ok buddy I can help you ...first plug all the other holes in your bars ...then get a lenth of 1/8 in string and your household vacuum cleaner ...then put the acc. hose of the vacuum on one end andthe string on the other and suck it thru ...nowyou have a way to pull your wires ..but dont use the string...go get some verythin wire and double it ...tie it to the string , pull thru and use it to pull your wires thru the bars ...and use some lube on the wires so they make the turnsbetter also use electrical tape to cover the naked wiresso to keep from skinning them when you pull them thru cause its a real bitch but it can be done ....I just did it to mineand it was well worth the effort
good luck and if you need more help I'll be around ....

PS ..I forgot to mention....this is at the very least a 12 pack if not an 18 pack job and it helps if you have a buddy with you cause there is a few times that you need 3 hands ...I had no buddies with me but my sweet 16 yr old girl pulled me thru....gotta love that daddys girl

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one cussing when doing this. I tried different aproaches but ended up using wire feed welding wire that I made a loop at the end to slide past the bend. Then made a little hook and electical taped it to the wires. I even sprayed a little WD-40 on the wires to help the slide better. The first side on my 16" apes took a while, I even quit and had a couple of beers...The second side went a lot better.

I let my dealer do it.
Best money ever spent.
I've got enough frustration in my life, like being a Buffalo Bills fan..

I enjoythe easy jobs when workingon my bike, and I leave the harder, dirtier jobs for my friendly dealer..

I did mine and my buddy's using the vacuum cleaner method. If you tape all the holes except the two you are working with you don't need much suction to get the string through. Hit the wires with WD40 and havea buddy, or your kid, push the wires into the bars as you pull them through. Both sets we did were pullback drags and had a 90 deg. bend. Before pushing the wires in I set them beside the bar to figure out how much I was going to feed in before it hit the 90. When we had fed that much in we gave it a little extra tug to make the 90 then kept pushin' and pullin'. Really not that bad with two people. I had never done it before and used tips I read here. I think thestealer wasgonna hit me for 4 hours of labor. It didn't takeus that long on the first set and the second took about 2. I guess if you figure in two hours for two guys thats where they come up with four. Saved myself 3 - 400 dollars. Remember now that you have a buddy comin' over, better make it a case of beer. Good Luck.

NoVa, Like the desighn of the frount rim! Thats not a 21 inch is it? When you doing cables stainless or are you leaving them back? I blew up your pic and they look stock but the quality got grainy so I could be wrong.

The rim is a 16 and the cables are stock. When I copied your bars the stock stuff worked out fit wise so I just left it for now. I am doing a black chrome thing up front. I have chrome switches on black housings, black levers, black and chrome grips, and chrome mirrors. I have a black fender I haven't mounted yet and I may black out my lower forks. So I am going to wait till that is done and see how it looks together.

I got the bars wired internally in about 20 min (both sides) thanks to the help from here. I used christmas ribbon (the type you can't ever get off of your presents) and tied a nut to it and dropped it in the wires. Once this was pulled through I tied the other end of the ribbon to the wires as tight as I could and slowly pushed the harness with one hand and pulled the ribbon with the other. The first side took a total of about 3 minutes (needless to say I was happy about this) the second one took the other 17 minutes due to the ribbon breaking and trouble with the way I tied the wires initially. Thanks to all!!!!!!!!

Yes all the lights, signals etc worked. Once the bars were on I reconnected them back to the original wiring and everything worked- No smoke from any of the components!
