Default internal wiring

Ok so now I'm ready to internally wire my handlebars. Spent some time last night trying to thread a number of different things through. from weedwacker string to regular string. What gives?? I can't make it past the last 90 turn. Not sure what to do at this point. As usual any help is appreciated. I did notice the post a while back on the vacuum, but the suction on mine is weak.

i internally wired my ape hangers, all i could say is keep trying

same thing happend to me for a while

once you finally get one through each side its all over then

cuz you can do this:

get one through....then attach 2 or 3 wires to that one and pull them through..............repeat

can try maybe like some wd40 or something inside the bars too

I fought with this when I put my T-bars on. The first side took me about 2 hours. I tried string, electrical wire, etc; but nothing was working. Finally, I used a long, small-to-medium thickness zip-tie. Worked perfectly. The second side took 5 minutes. You can buy them in abundance in the electrical dept at Home Depot. Good luck.

BTW, I think I did put a little Vasoline around the sheathing to help keep it from being damaged as I pulled it around that 90 degree turn.

With bars off bike tie a small nut on to a piece of cottonstring small enough to go threw hole. Nut will pull string right threw. Tie a thicker string or wire that will not break onto the cotton string and pull it threw then attach your wires to it.

Aha! I initially misread your question. I thought you were having issues pulling the wire through. Yes, as JLOCKHART29 said, pull the initial string through using a weight, then tie that to something stronger and pull that through. That was the easy part. But I wasn’t able to pull the wire harness through until I used a zip tie, because of the hard 90 degree turn.

I personally like using ZIP ties...they seem to work mostof the time. They arestiff enough to push but flexible enough to bend with the bar at the same time. There is a very good selection at The Home Depot or Lowe's. But remember, ANY wiring through the handle bars is a major pain in the butt, but it can be done! Patience and determination will make it happen. Just have some cold beer on hand AFTER you put the tools up and you're admiring your Harley and handy-work!

Good luck...

Steve
