I know that you can get a hitch for the Touring models, but I have never seen one for any softail. I would doubt the rear suspension could take it. On the Ultra you have the air shocks to compensate for the extra weight.
I pulled a trailer with my 84 Softail all over hell's half acre and never had a problem. That was in the 80's with an 80 inch evo motor. The pic below was taken in 87 when I was leaving from the Olympia area in Wash state going to Sturgis. I carried all kinds of **** in that trailer including a 10X13 foot tent, 3 burner camp stove, one of those lil fold up picnic tables, a GI Army cot, cooler, clothes and such. Note the propane tank on the trailer tongue.
I made the trailer with a frame kit I bought at K-Mart and a 23 cubic foot rooftop cargo carrier I bought used from an RV dealer.
I had a guy at a welding shop fab up the hitch for me. Never a problem.
I have no doubt that you can. Seen hitch set ups for softails. But my concern would be stopping. Ride with a few guys that pull campers one with a victory one with. Glodwing and the other with an ultra. When asked how the bikes handle they said turning and stopping were the hardest to get used to. All those bikes have dual front brakes while us Softail riders just get one. So just because you can doesn't mean you should.
