Default Forward Controls and Rider Height

So I am leaning toward taking the boards off of 2012 Slim and swaping them out with forward controls. I have some input already from a fellow forum member who did the same to his.

Thing is he is 6'2" and I am 5'6". When I sit on the Slim I can't help but "feel" like I could reach the forwards. I have sat on custom bikes with forwards and felt pretty comfortable, didn't feel like I couldn't reach the controls.

I was hoping to hear some input from those more similiar to my stature that has done away with their boards for forwards. It would be a big help, Thanks in advance.

Only two reasons to do the mod, comfort and/or look. I you "feel pretty comfortable", put them on but save all the old parts so you can put her back to original. If you like the look, put them on and trade the old parts to a friend. Myself, I go for comfort first and then look. Sometimes they just go hand in hand.

You're right dude. I don't know why I wasted board space with my bull **** question. Comfort wins over look and I am keeping the boards. I will change them out though. Thanks for the reply.

It was a decent question, and you need to always remember that "comfy ***" and "bad ***" can never coexist. Every time you make you're scoot a little more bad *** , you'll have given up some comfy ***. Just basic physics, matter is never created nor destroyed, just transformed.

That being said, forward control or not, I say go for it, but as was said keep all the stock bits. I'm 5-9 with a 31" inseam and the stock forward control location was pretty damn comfortable. I fabricated a 1" extension kit last winter to accommodate my foot clutch setup, and that coupled with the bare bones seat (which sits ya back about 1-2" over stock), puts the controls at about the limit of comfort for me.

Boards vs forwards is a very personal thing though. I've ridden a couple bikes with boards and don't like them at all. Some hate forward controls. Give it a try, you can always change it back!
