Have never installed LED lights, with instructions shouldn't be a problem.. Another way to increase the light out-put is raise the watts of the bulb.. could be a big difference in lighting with just a change in bulb.. I'm not saying it's better than LED, I'm sure less expensive. I allso live in rural area.. Critters at night are dangerous..... Hope this helps !!
I have installed passing lights on a FLST Fatboy 2 times and not hard. Have to drill hole for switch, which the cover comes off easy. Tie it together with the existing Yellow wire which is used for the passing lights from factory...

I am pretty sure the LED lights for HD are plug and play, if you want to run the passing lamps with the high beam on there is an HD harness you can get from the dealer that will do this for you and want a simple install.

I bought a $28 dollar H4 HID high /low beam kit off ebay and installed it into my stock 7in bucket. Serious bad *** light and with a nice wide field of light for spotting those little brown devils...I did have to wire in an on/off toggle switch for the headlight though. An HID light should be turned off during starting. Bike cranks great without the light on though so bonus.

The Harley LED's are plug and play but pricey. I just scored an HID for a couple of my bikes, plan on installing it tomorrow or the next day. On a fatboy you can put a slim ballast either in the headlight bucket or under the fork tins. Plenty of options. We'll see how this think works when I get it on. I got h4 6000K for a bright white beam. $400 for an LED is more than I am willing to spend. A little bit of work is well worth the saved $360. I also got an extension for the HID so I can put the ballast under than seat which I think there is room for on a fatboy as well.

Yeah, plenty of room in the 7in bucket. No wires in or out with the new style pnp kits...you will want an on off switch too...I learned from experience. It will work fine until it runs awhile and then you turn the bike off but want to start it again in a few minutes before the HID unit cools down. It will go into a thermal protection mode and ficker on and off multiple times as it keeps tripping the circuit before probably blowing a fuse. Better to start he bike with the light off anyway, the amp draw just takes power from the starter (like all modern Harleys)

I mounted another toggle on the back of the fork covers by the aux light toggle...20A toggle switch, easy splice.

I also tacked down the ballast in the bucket with some silicone, heat proof, shock absorbing, easy to remove if necessary. Then I zip tied all the harnesses together so its nice and quiet in there.

Im waiting now for an Adjure black dot tri-bar lamp to arrive...should look killer.

Lot of members run the Truck Lite-7 LED (myself as well) and it's pretty much remove trim ring & light bracket, unplug, plug, install trim ring & bracket. Only issue is depth of LED light and it's easily fixed with the french or visor trim ring. Adding aux/passing lights is another can-o-worms because if you bike's not wired/set-up...you'll be adding all the mounts, wiring harness, switches, etc...bigger job, but more for the intermediate wrench-head.

Here's a link to the Truck Lite bulb where it goes on sale alot: http://www.discountfleetsupply.com/tlc27270c.html

Well if you want to try the HID they are only $28 bucks (shipped to your door) so if you didn't like them for some reason you wouldn't be out much. I have to say though, if its big light you want you wont be disappointed.

I took the time to aim my light correctly and it doesn't seem to be an issue with passing cars...haven't been flashed once yet.

Best low buck mod Ive done so far.
