Default How do you lower the rear of an 09 Crossbones

I notice lowering kits in the Harley catelog and in JP Cycles, but they both say the kits exclude the FLSTSB (Crossbones) and a few other soft tails. WHY ??? From the fork back isnt the crossbones just like any other softail???

Progressive 422 shocks, Shotgun Shocks, Dead Creek Cycle lowering kit, or lowering bolts. Those are your choices, more or less. They should all work on the Cross Bones.

What's youre budget?

The easiest way to do it is to buy the lowering kit that uses collars so you don't actually have to remove anything from underneath. I did that and it went on fairly easy. Down side is that it's like lowering a car with just springs and not upgrading the shocks. You'll have to adjust the preload so you don't bottom out and the ride will be rougher. Hell, it may even be compared to just cutting the springs on a car for looks and not giving a **** about ride quality.

The next step up is the Progressive 422's. They're a new shock assembly that will most likely give you a better ride than the cheap kit and has an adjustable ride height by adjusting the shock manually.

Then there's air suspension like the shotgun. Expensive, but apparently worth it according to everyone on here. Plus, what's more bad *** than hitting a switch and raising or lowering your bike? This is where I'm going to end up eventually.
